After years of heating up, cooling down and exposure to oil the structure of the gaskets can break down, fail, and begin to leak. The engine sump, also known as the oil pan or crankcase, has an important role in engine lubrication and protecting vital engine parts.
Engine oil drain plugs allow you to easily drain the old oil out of your engine sump. Frequent oil changes ensure the longevity of your engine and prevent build up left behind from old oil. Since the oil drain plug is constantly removed every time for your oil changes, they don't always stay in the best condition and can become stripped or fracture. Be sure to replace a damaged sump plug immediately to avoid engine oil loss.
