The original BMW air intake charge pipe is made from plastic and prone to failure. The main failure point is the plastic flange that connects to the throttle body. Thousands of times the engine and attached engine components heat up and cool down; this can cause the plastic to become weak, brittle and break.

Installation note: The charge pipe C-clip must audibly ‘snap’ into place. See image at bottom of page for unlocked and locked position.
Important: Observe tightening torque of hose clamps. If hose clamps are tightened too much, there is a risk of damage to the air pipes.

Instructions to remove, replace, or install a charge pipe in a 135i 335i N55 E82 E88 E90 E91 E92 E93
1. Remove air intake duct screws. Red arrows shown in the image below.
2. Unlock air intake clips and remove from air filter housing. Blue arrows shown in the image below.
3. Remove air intake.
4. Detach cables from bracket on the air filter housing in an upward direction.
5. Loosen air intake hose clamp. Red arrow shown in the image below.
6. Unplug air mass sensor. Blue arrow shown in the image below.
7. Lift air filter housing off rubber mounts in an upward direction and remove.
8. Remove charge pipe screw. Red arrow shown in the image below.
9. Unplug pressure sensor. Blue arrow shown in the image below.
10. Unlock charge pipe C-clip at throttle body. Purple arrow shown in the image below.
11. Loosen charge pipe hose clamp. Yellow arrow shown in the image below.
12. Remove charge pipe. Change over pressure sensor and hose clamp if required.
13. To install repeat previous steps in reverse order.
