VANOS is BMW's terminology for its variable valve timing units. The bearings and bearing ring inside the VANOS unit can be the main cause of the well-known rattle. This repair kit will save you from replacing the whole unit and is a fairly easy DIY job depending on your skill level.
This kit includes a rocker cover gasket set and a set of rocker cover nut seals. It is not recommended to reuse the rocker cover gasket or seals. This kit is a terrific way to complete a VANOS rebuild successfully.
The engine oil pipe feeds oil to the VANOS unit. It connects from the oil filter housing to the VANOS.
The oil filter housing gasket seals the oil filter housing to the engine block and is quite common to fail and leak. Keeping oil inside your engine is extremely important for proper lubrication and performance.
