When engine mounts fail, they can cause excessive vibrations throughout your car from the engine through the driveline, this can cause further damage to your transmission mounts, tail shaft coupling and centre mount and bearing. Engine mounts are partially made of rubber and over time the rubber can become dry and cracked causing the mount to fail.
